The above age divisions apply to Solos, Duos, and Troupe Sections.
Troupe Sections will be divided into Small Groups and Large Groups based on the number of performers. The average age of all competitors in the routine will determine the age division.
Small Groups: 4 - 9 performers
Large Groups: 10+ performers
NOVA Dance Championships reserves the right to combine, split, or further divide sections where necessary to ensure a fair and competitive competition experience.
19 & OVER
Nova Dance Championships offers two competition levels to provide a fair and supportive experience for solo competitors while recognising different levels of competitive achivement.
DEBUT STARS
Designed for solo competitors working towards their first major competitive success. Debut stars provides an encouraging and supportive environment for dancers to build confidence, gain valuable stage experience, and celebrate their progress as performers.
First-Year Soloists
No Previous Overall 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Placings
Developing Competitors
PREMIER STARS
Designed for solo competitors who have achieved competitive success in their chosen style. Premier Stars provides a platform for accomplished dancers to showcase their artistry, talent, and technique in a competitive environment.
Experienced Solo Competitors
Previous Overall Place Winners
Advanced Performance Standard
Competitors who have previously placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a solo in the same style at a recognised dance competition must compete in the Premier Stars Level for that style.
Competitors who have not previously placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the same style are eligible to either compete in the Debut Stars Level or the Premier Stars Level.
Competitors may choose to compete in a higher level; however, competitors who meet the criteria for Premier Stars are not permitted to compete in Debut Stars.
