By entering Nova Dance Championships, you agree to abide by all rules, regulations, and policies outlined by Nova Dance Championships.
Nova Dance Championships reserves the right to make decisions and take appropriate action where necessary to ensure a safe, fun, and fair competition for all participants.
2.1 Solos: Age is determined by the competitor’s age as of 1 January of the competition year.
2.2 Duos & Trios: Age is determined by the average age of the competitors as of 1 January of the competition year. Any decimal ages are rounded down.
2.3 Troupes: Age is determined by the average age of the troupe as of 1 January of the competition year. The oldest dancer in the troupe may only compete one age division down below their own age division. Any decimal ages are rounded down.
2.4. Competitors must be entered into the correct age division. Nova Dance Championships reserves the right to move an incorrectly entered entry to the correct age division.
2.5. Nova Dance Championships may request proof of age at any time.
3.1 Nova Dance Championships is an amateur dance competition. Professional dancers in the dance industry are not eligible to compete.
3.2 Competitors who are enrolled in a full-time professional dance course or training program are not eligible to compete.
3.3 Competitors who undertake part-time dance training, recreational training, or other non-professional dance programs are eligible to compete, provided they meet all the other competition requirements.
3.4 Nova Dance Championships reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any competitor where their professional status, training, or experience may provide an unfair competitive advantage.
4.1 All entries must be submitted through CompAdmin Pro before the advertised closing date.
4.2. Competitors must be entered into the correct section, category, and age division.
4.3 All competitors must purchase a Competitor Pass at the time of entry. One Competitor Pass is required per competitor. The Competitor Pass covers administration costs, insurance, and spectator admission.
4.4. All entries must be paid in full or through an approved payment plan. Payment plans are available for entries with a total balance of $100 or more. A deposit is required at the time of registration to secure an entry and activate the payment plan. The remaining balance will be paid through the selected instalment option.
4.5 All entry fees must be paid in full by the nominated final payment date, which will be approximately two weeks before the competition.
4.6 Entries with outstanding balances after the final payment date may be withdrawn, and the competitor/s may not be permitted to compete.
4.7 Nova Dance Championships reserves the right to close individual sections or the competition to further entries once capacity has been reached.
4.8 By submitting an entry, the entrant confirms that they have read and agreed to the Nova Dance Championships rules, regulations, and policies.
5.1 Competitors may enter the categories offered by Nova Dance Championships, including Solo, Duo, Trio, Troupe, Improvisation, Own Choreography, and Supernova Championships.
Improvisation: A solo performance where the competitor is given music at the competition and performs without prepared choreography.
Own Choreography: A solo performance choreographed entirely by the competitor. All choreography entered into this category must be original and belong to the competitor entering the routine.
Supernova Championships: A special championship round where eligible competitors compete for the overall title within their age division.
5.2 Debut & Premier Divisions are currently offered in Classical, Jazz, and Lyrical solo categories. Additional styles may be introduced based on demand.
Debut: For soloists competing in their first year of solo competition, or soloists who have never placed at any competition in any style.
Premier: For soloists who have been competing for more than one year and have received a placing at a previous competition in any style.
5.3 Soloists who are eligible for a Debut Division may choose to compete in a Premier Division instead. Competing in Debut is not compulsory. It is designed to encourage and support soloists who are new to solo competition or who have not yet achieved a placing, while providing an opportunity to build confidence and experience.
5.4 All other categories and styles that do not offer Debut & Premier Divisions will remain open to all eligible competitors.
6.1 Nova Dance Championships currently offers the following dance styles:
Acrobatics: A style combining dance with acrobatic elements, such as balances, flips, tricks, and tumbling. Dancers use strength, flexibility, and body control to combine impressive skills with choreography and performance.
Classical Ballet: A traditional and highly technical style that focuses on balance, control, posture, precision, and graceful movement. Routines may include traditional ballet positions, intricate footwork, turns, jumps, and pointe work.
Commercial Jazz: A performance-focused style that combines jazz technique with commercial dance influences. It features sharp movements, energetic choreography, strong musicality, and confident performance, often inspired by music videos, live shows, and popular entertainment.
Contemporary: A creative and expressive style that combines elements of classical ballet, jazz, and lyrical. Contemporary focuses on flexibility, floor work, dynamic choreography and freedom of movement, allowing dancers to express emotion and interpretation through their performance. Routines are often performed barefoot.
Hip-Hop: A high-energy street dance style that developed from hip-hop culture and music. It includes body isolations, grooves, strong rhythms, and styles such as breaking, popping, and locking.
Jazz: A fun and energetic dance style that combines strong technique with dynamic and expressive movement. Jazz includes isolations, jumps, kicks, sharp movements, and turns, with a strong focus on musicality, performance, and personality.
Lyrical: A fluid and expressive style that combines elements of classical ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. Lyrical focuses on emotion, musicality, and storytelling, with choreography often inspired by the lyrics and meaning of the music.
Musical Theatre: A character-driven style that combines dance, performance, and storytelling to bring a musical theatre scene to life. Routines should capture the character, mood, and story of the music, and are typically performed to songs from Broadway and musical theatre productions.
Neo-Classical: A modern style of ballet that combines classical ballet technique with contemporary movement. It focuses on clean lines, musicality, strong technique, and expressive movement rather than storytelling. Choreography may include unusual shapes, off-balance movements, faster footwork, and athletic jumps and turns, while still maintaining a strong ballet foundation.
Song & Dance: A performance style that combines dancing and singing in one routine. Dancers perform live vocals while using choreography to match and bring energy, character, and personality to the performance.
Tap: A rhythmic dance style where dancers use tap shoes to create sounds and beats with their feet. Tap focuses on precise footwork, timing, rhythm, and musicality.
6.2 Any dance style not specifically listed above must be entered under Open Styles. Additional styles may be added based on demand.

Small Troupe (4-12 Competitors): $50 Per Troupe + $40 Competitor Pass Per Student
Large Troupe (13+ Competitors): $60 Per Troupe + $40 Competitor Pass Per Student

7.2 Entry fees are non-refundable, subject to the Nova Dance Championships cancellation and refund policy.
