17. Props & Set-Up

Props are permitted at Nova Dance Championships provided they comply with the following requirements:

• Large props or props that require storage at the venue must be notified to Nova Dance Championships at least two weeks prior to the competition event, regardless of who is responsible for setting up or removing the prop.

• Each routine is allocated a maximum of 2 minutes to set up props prior to the performance and 2 minutes to remove all props following the performance. Studios are responsible for ensuring their props can be safely managed within this time frame.

• If a prop requires more than two minutes to set up or remove, this must be communicated with Nova Dance Championships at least two weeks prior to the event. Nova Dance Championships reserves the right to approve or decline props based on available time, safety, and venue requirements.

• All props requiring storage must be clearly labelled with the Studio Name.

• Storing props in the wings is not permitted. An allocated area will be provided for the storage of larger props.

• Small props that performers can easily carry on and off stage, such as hats, scarves, sticks, and similar handheld items do not need to be notified or registered.

• All props must be safe and suitable for use at the venue. Nova Dance Championships reserves the right to refuse any prop considered unsafe, inappropriate, or unsuitable for the venue.

19. Audience Code Of Conduct

By attending a Nova Dance Championships event, all audience members agree to abide by the following requirements:

• In accordance with Nova Dance Championships’ Child Safe Policy, photography and videography of any kind by audience members is strictly prohibited.

• It is the responsibility of Studio Owners and Teachers to ensure that all contestants and parents attending on behalf of their studio are made aware of Nova Dance Championships photography and videography restrictions prior to the event. All attendees are individually responsible for complying with these requirements. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including studio disqualification, where deemed appropriate by Nova Dance Championships.

• Nova Dance Championships staff reserves the right to request that any unauthorised photographs or videos be deleted from the device on which they were captured.

• There is to be NO alcohol, smoking, vaping, or illegal drug use at any Nova Dance Championships event. Any person found breaching this requirement may be removed from the venue immediately.

• Audience members must remain respectful while dancers are performing on stage. Please refrain from shouting, excessive talking or any disruptive behaviours that may distract dancers or disturb other audience members.

• Audience members are expected to remain seated throughout performances and avoid standing in aisles or blocking the view of others. If leaving your seat is necessary, please do so quietly and at an appropriate time.

• Mobile phones and other electronic devices must be placed on silent during performances.

• Audience members must respect the decisions of the adjudicators. Concerns regarding adjudication or competition outcomes must be made in writing and emailed to info@novadancechampionships.com.au and must not involve abuse or confrontation towards adjudicators, staff, teachers, or other competitors.

• Unsportsmanlike behaviour from audience members, including bullying, discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated.

• Nova Dance Championships reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove any person from the venue where their conduct is considered to have breached Nova Dance Championships policies, including the Child Safe Policy. Where necessary, venue security or relevant authorities may also be contacted.

• No refund will be provided where an individual is removed from an event as a result of breaching Nova Dance Championships policies.
